Dec. 5—DILLON, Mont. — The University of Jamestown women’s basketball team had a big second half in a 68-54 win over the University of Montana Western on Thursday, Dec. 5, at the Bulldogs’ Straugh Gymnasium.
The Jimmies outscored the Bulldogs 45-25 in the second half.
The first half was all about the Bulldogs (2-4) responding to Jimmies runs with big runs of their own as they turned a 23-21 lead midway through the second quarter into a 29-23 lead heading into the half.
With 4:44 to go in the third quarter the Jimmies’ Kate Cordes was fouled and hit both at the stripe to give her team a 34-33 lead, and their first advantage of the day. After the Bulldogs once again fought back and took a 40-36 lead, the Jimmies (6-1) finished the quarter on a 10-2 run to take a 46-42 lead into the final quarter
Early in the fourth, the hosts trimmed the deficit to 46-44 but the Jimmies once again responded with a big run to get the lopsided win.
The Jimmies are back in action at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, when they go to Montana Tech.
