Jon Anik wonders what Michael Page’s next move will be.
Page (25-3 MMA, 4-1 UFC) extended his winning streak to three after outpointing Sam Patterson in a unanimous decision win at UFC Fight Night 270 this past Saturday. The lackluster affair drew boos from the crowd, and UFC CEO Dana White called it a “bad fight.”

MVP acknowledged the performance wasn’t entertaining but also questioned why the UFC opted to match him up against his former training partner, who’s a relatively unknown rising welterweight. UFC play-by-play commentator Anik still sees potential in Page.
“What do you do with MVP? He goes and beats Jared Cannonier at 185 (pounds), but I think the championship run is going to be at 170,” Anik said on his “Anik & Florian Podcast.” “I mean, I don’t know the extent to which the UFC is in the MVP business, but what do you do with him because he can win a title, I think, if he gets the right matchups.”
Anik suggested names like Joaquin Buckley, Belal Muhammad, and Kamaru Usman, who could potentially bring the best out of Page. The 38-year-old recently revealed that he has one fight remaining on his UFC contract but hopes to re-sign.
“I think he should be getting the biggest possible fights and not, you know, his teammates like Sam Patterson, to be sure,” Anik said.
