There’s been a lot to celebrate recently for the Colorado Buffaloes football program after going 9-4 and appearing in the Alamo Bowl in 2024, their first winning season and bowl game appearance since 2016 (excluding 2020).
Head coach Deion Sanders has been a big part of that success, showing he can bring in elite talent, including a two-way star, Travis Hunter, along with his son and quarterback Shedeur, who are both expected to be first-round picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.

On Friday, the Buffaloes ensured that Sanders would remain for the foreseeable future by signing him to a five-year, $54 million extension.
Shortly after Colorado announced the contract, quarterback Julian Lewis shared a special message about the deal, saying “Let’s Goooo!” via social media.
Lewis is one of the crowned jewels of Colorado’s 2025 recruiting class, with 247Sports composite rankings placing him as a four-star recruit, the No. 6 quarterback and the No. 50 player in the nation.
His path to the Buffaloes was also unorthodox, having previously committed to USC on Aug. 22, 2023, but backed out on Nov. 17, 2024, and finally committing to Colorado just four days later, with Sanders playing a big role in the process.

Now, Lewis finds himself in a positional battle with transfer quarterback Kaidon Salter for the right to be the team’s starter for their first game of the 2025 season against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Aug. 29.
