Kalen DeBoer reveals why Alabama made change at offensive line coach

by

Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer recently took a moment to speak to the media at the Senior Bowl in Mobile.

DeBoer was able to share his thoughts on the recent changes to Alabama’s offensive line during this, as the Tide have added a multitude of linemen through the transfer portal. Most notably, former four-star recruit Ty Haywood transferred to Alabama from Michigan, as the talented lineman will more than likely play a crucial role on the Tide’s offense in 2026.

DeBoer also revealed his thoughts surrounding the reported change at offensive line coach, which has seen the Crimson Tide move on from Chris Kapilovic after two seasons.

“It’s about production.” DeBoer stated. “We know we’ve got to be better there. You know, mindset, and just execution. The details of the fundamentals that guys need, a lot of new faces that are going to be in that room, so kind of a fresh start there.”

The Crimson Tide have also recently made a move to fill that void offensive line coaching position, reportedly hiring veteran Adrian Klemm.

Alabama has also added numerous offensive lineman from the transfer portal, in addition to Haywood, throughout the offseason. Sophomore tackle Michael Carroll is expected to be the only returning starter in 2026, as Alabama will have an almost entirely different look to the offensive line next season.

DeBoer and the Tide will kickoff the 2026 campaign on Sept. 5 against East Carolina.
