LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas basketball coach Bill Self was released from the hospital on Saturday after a heart procedure, according to KU Athletics.
Self was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital on Thursday, where he had two stents inserted after feeling unwell and experiencing concerning systems.

Self released the following statement after he was released:

“I want to thank all the amazing doctors and nurses at LMH Health for the excellent care I received during my stay there. I feel strong and am excited to be home. Our team has had a productive summer and look forward to our batteries being recharged and prepping for this upcoming season.”
Self previously had health issues in 2023, missing both the Big 12 Tournament and the NCAA Tournament after undergoing a heart procedure.

He signed a lifetime contract with Kansas in 2023, that made him the highest paid basketball coach. The 62-year-old is entering his 23rd season with the Jayhawks, but has dispelled any retirement rumors.
He is the all-time winningest coach in Kansas basketball history with a record of 624-156, to go along with 17 Big 12 regular season titles and two national championships.
