It was not a part of the official nonconference schedule released Monday by Kansas State’s basketball team, but it appears the Wildcats will face a former Big 12 opponent in an October exhibition game.

Instead of opening with its home exhibition against Newman on Oct. 31, the Wildcats will travel to Columbia to take on Missouri on Oct. 24, according to a social media post by K-State basketball.

The post did not indicate whether the game would be open to the public or take place behind closed doors, as exhibitions against power conference schools frequently do.

K-State and Missouri last met on the court on Nov. 19, 2018, in the championship game of the Virgin Islands Paradise Jam, with the Wildcats prevailing, 82-67.

K-State announced its 13-game nonconference schedule Monday with nine home games in addition to the Newman exhibition. The first four official games will take place at Bramlage Coliseum, starting with North Carolina-Greensboro on Nov. 4, followed by Bellarmine (Nov. 8), California (Nov. 13) and Tulsa (Nov. 17) before the Wildcats head to Kansas City for the Hall of Fame Classic, where they will face Mississippi State on Nov. 20 and either Nebraska or New Mexico the following night.

Kansas State coach Jerome Tang will begin his fourth season with the Wildcats with an Oct. 24 exhibition game at former Big 12 rival Missouri.

The Wildcats also have two road games before Big 12 play begins in January, playing at Indiana on Nov. 25 and at Creighton on Dec. 13.

The Big 12 schedule goes back to 18 games this season after the teams played 20 last year, the first as a 16-team conference.
