A clip of newly acquired Los Angeles Sparks guard Kelsey Plum and Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark from last season has gone viral once again. The moment took place during the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game, where Team USA faced off against a group of all-stars who didn’t make the Paris Olympic squad.
Clark was one of the players not selected, and it became a controversial topic, with many fans arguing she should have been.
Plum made the team and was seen tightly guarding Clark in the game. While the WNBA All-Star Game is typically just an exhibition, this game served as a tune-up for Team USA ahead of the Paris Olympics.

Plum brought intense defensive pressure, locking in from the inbound pass and continuing with a full-court press.
The fan who posted the clip questioned the intensity, writing, “WHY YOU PRESSING WHY YOU BOTTING.”
Many fans on social media felt the same way when the game took place in July, suggesting that Plum’s intensity was specifically because she was guarding Clark.
On Wednesday, Plum finally addressed the play, saying she would have done the same thing regardless of who she was guarding in that instance.
“Dawg could have been CC, could have been my grandma,” Plum said. “coaches made me pick up full court and deny the ball back, I tried 😂 (btw if you watched the Olympics/ world championships, when you play team USA, this is the style) k leave me alone bye 😂.”

Clark burst onto the scene in her rookie season. Aside from her All-Star selection, she earned All-WNBA First Team honors, won Rookie of the Year, led the league in assists, and accomplished even more.

It’s no surprise that other players were out to prove something against the young star. And with the new WNBA season approaching fast, all eyes will be on Clark again.
She and the Fever will open the season on May 17 against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on ABC.
