Rutgers Football senior Kenny Fletcher was honored as one of 46 tight ends named to the 2025 John Mackey Award Preseason Watch List on Friday afternoon.
The award is named after NFL Hall of Fame tight end John Mackey and is presented annually to the top tight end in college football each season since 2000.
Fletcher originally joined the Scarlet Knights as a member of the 2022 recruiting class as a defensive end prospect, where he appeared in 24 games over the first two seasons. During that timespan, he finished with 10 total tackles, five tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and one forced fumble.
Prior to the 2023 Pinstripe Bowl, Fletcher was moved to tight end and was eventually named the starter at the position ahead of the 2024 season. He hauled in 20 receptions for 137 yards and two touchdowns over just six games, before he suffered a season ending injury.
Some of the other recent Scarlet Knights to ever receive this preseason honor include DC Jefferson (2010), and Johnny Langan (2023).
