While Kentucky men’s basketball star Otega Oweh has stolen most of the headlines as the main Wildcat fans are hopeful to have him back in Lexington, making a splash in the NBA, he’s not the only one.
Incoming transfer point guard Jaland Lowe, out of Pittsburgh, has also been making waves in the pros as he goes through NBA G League Elite Camp.

Lowe recently scored nine points, five assists, and one rebound in the G League Elite Camp, leading his team to victory with the best +/- on the team.
His efforts led to him getting praise from numerous scouts and journalists, including Sports Illustrated’s Kevin Sweeney.
“(Lowe) had his way in the paint, made good decisions with the ball [and] looks to have added some muscle,” Sweeney wrote.
On top of that, Lowe had just one turnover in the scrimmage, noticeably cutting down on something that many fans had pegged as one of his biggest areas of concern coming into Lexington.
Regardless, fans are remaining optimistic about Lowe after his father publicly stated that his goal is still to play for UK and the camps are simply to get feedback.

“The expectation and goals are for him to be a part of Kentucky basketball and for him to win the No. 9 championship,” the elder Lowe told KSR’s Jacob Polacheck.
This is also not entirely shocking as Lowe also did not receive an NBA Draft Combine call-up despite his strong play. The five athletes called up did, however, include former Kentucky target Mackenzie Mgbako.
Lowe is expected to be a significant part of Kentucky’s roster next season as most are anticipating him to be the starting point guard for the Wildcats, who were forced to go into the portal after Lamont Butler exhausted his eligibility and Kerr Kriisa opted to transfer to Cincinnati.
He has already been spotted around Lexington, visiting a Kentucky baseball game alongside fellow incoming transfer Mouhamed Dioubate (Alabama) and Denzel Aberdeen (Florida).

On top of that, Lowe also received praise from stars of Kentucky’s past, Andrew and Aaron Harrison, both of whom have been involved with Kentucky after joining UK’s alumni team for The Basketball Tournament (TBT), La Familia.
The twins told KSR that not only had they known Lowe since he was a child, but they also helped him navigate the transfer portal and his decision to commit to Kentucky, saying they’d be present to give him further advice as needed as well.
With confidence in Lowe’s return and strong play in the NBA G League Elite Camp, excitement only continues to grow in Lexington for the 2025-26 season as what was once seen as one of the more divisive additions to the roster may, in fact, turn out to be one of the best.
