The Kentucky basketball team spent the summer putting in the work. Before the team takes a well-deserved break, the UK Sports Video department is emptying the highlight clip for Big Blue Nation.
Mark Pope ran the Wildcats through one final workout on Thursday, hopefully after Jayden Quaintance passed his driver’s test. They’ll get the rest of the month off before classes resume on Aug. 25.
Waiting is hard for Kentucky basketball fans. To make the wait for more basketball less painful, we got a few clips from Thursday’s workout, starting with sharp-shooting from Kam Williams. When fans talk about next year’s team, they usually leave one sure-fire contributor out of the equation. I’m more guilty of it than anybody. People forget about Williams. It’s clear we should not.
He wasn’t the only sharpshooter showing off his tools at the Joe Craft Center. Sophomore Collin Chandler let it rain.
The second-year sensation was getting buckets, and also on the wrong end of a Jasper Johnson crossover. The homegrown freshman showed off some skills that are clearly reminiscent of another former Cat whose name was called in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft.
There’s just something about watching a southpaw knock down a step-back three. It’s beautiful.
BUT WAIT — THERE’S MORE!
Mark Pope loves to see his team knock down threes. These Kentucky Wildcats aren’t going to live at the three-point line. Denzel Aberdeen looks built to thrive in the pick-and-roll. He made it look easy with Malachi Moreno.
This Kentucky basketball team is going to be so much fun. There are 78 days until we get to see them in action in an exhibition against Purdue, but who’s counting?
