La Familia is a Kentucky Wildcats alumni team, but in game one of this year’s TBT (The Basketball Tournament) it was the players who came from other schools who dominated the game. They played well, and led the team to a 72-68 victory over Louisville’s The Ville on Saturday in the first of a best-of-three series.
Darryl Morsell finished off the game with a dunk to win it, and ended with 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. He was the main catalyst for the Cats team, but he wasn’t the only newcomer to shine in the opening matchup.

Sean McNeil added 12 points and was 2-for-3 from three point range. James Mainor-Bell had 10 points and 4 boards. Andrew Harrison was the highest scoring former Wildcat with 14 points. He also had 4 rebounds and 3 assists.
The game itself ended up being more exciting than it appeared it would be midway through, but La Familia pulled ahead and had the chance to turn it into a blowout, but The Ville battled back and made it a close game before Morsell got open and slammed home the game-winner.
Game two will be played on Monday in Louisville.
