There’s no doubt that many college football programs have turned the transfer portal into a reliable way to bring in high-level talent, but landing commitments from high school players still remains extremely important.
One team that has been extremely active the past few years is the Georgia Bulldogs and head coach Kirby Smart, who have already put together an impressive 2025 recruiting class, which On3 ranks No. 2 in the nation, per On3.

On Monday, they started receiving a major piece for even further in the future, landing a commitment from class of 2026 quarterback Jared Curtis out of Nashville, Tennessee.
Quickly after the decision was made, Smart went to social media to celebrate the commitment, saying “Go Dawgs !!”
Curtis immediately becomes the best player Smart has landed in the 2026 class, as On3 Industry Rankings place him as a five-star prospect, the No. 1 quarterback and the No. 6 player in the nation.
It was also a very tight race to land him until the very end, as Georgia and the Oregon Ducks were the two final teams in the race, while other programs such as Alabama, Ohio State and Texas A&M also offered a scholarship.

Last season for the Nashville Christian Eagles, Curtis completed 179-of-255 passes for 2,830 yards, 40 touchdowns, and three interceptions while also rushing for 637 yards and 18 touchdowns.

What makes his decision to join Georgia even more interesting is that he originally committed to the Bulldogs on March 23, 2024, but would pull out on Oct. 17, 2024, and reopen his recruitment.
Curtis now joins an impressive 2026 recruiting class for Smart, which already includes big names such as four-star wide receiver Vance Spafford, four-star safety Zech Fort and four-star tight end Lincoln Keyes.
