The legendary ESPN college football analyst is gearing up for what should be a historic season. It’ll be the final one for Lee Corso, who is retiring following the Week 1 show in Columbus. Corso, 89, is deciding to call it a career.
“My family and I will be forever indebted for the opportunity to be part of ESPN and College GameDay for nearly 40 years,” said Corso. “I have a treasure of many friends, fond memories and some unusual experiences to take with me into retirement.”
Corso added: “ESPN has been exceptionally generous to me, especially these past few years. They accommodated me and supported me, as did my colleagues in the early days of College GameDay. Special thanks to Kirk Herbstreit for his friendship and encouragement. And lest I forget, the fans…truly a blessing to share this with them. ESPN gave me this wonderful opportunity and provided me the support to ensure success. I am genuinely grateful.”

The iconic college football pregame show will be heading to Columbus, Ohio for the first show of the year. Ohio State is set to take on Texas in a massive Week 1 showdown at Ohio Stadium. ESPN announced earlier in June that the college football pregame show would be heading to Columbus.
Herbstreit took to X, formerly known as Twitter, with a message for fans of the show on Monday. His beloved golden retriever, Peter, is excited for Week 1 of the 2025 college football season. He’ll be in Columbus, Ohio for the first show of the year.
“Peter is having a great summer! But can tell he’s already ready for August 30th!” Herbstreit announced.
It’ll be fun to see Herbstreit and Co. – including his beloved dog – back on set for the first show of the year.
