Kristóf Milák Soars to 50.22 100 Fly Scorcher Amid Golden Double at Hungarian Championships
Kristóf Milák soared to the 100 fly title in 50.22 before taking 50 free gold on the final evening of the Hungarian Championships in Sopron.
Out in 23.60 and back in 26.62, the Olympic champion scorched to the seventh-fastest time of his career topped by his 49.68 PB, once the European record until surpassed by Maxime Grousset en-route to the world title at Singapore 2025.
He lowered his 50.93 rankings topper from Saturday’s semifinals to book himself a spot on the Hungary team for the European Championships in Paris where he’ll face the likes of Grousset and Noè Ponti, who won silver in Singapore last year.
He returned to the water around 30 minutes later for the 50 free final having posted a 21.76 PB in the semis to book lane four. It cut 0.13 off his 21.89 best from the 2024 edition in his second journey inside 22secs.
He clinched his second title of the night in 21.79 and fourth gold overall in his first competition in a year since the 2025 national championships.
The European Championships will mark his first international appearance since his 100m butterfly gold-medal swim at Paris 2024, which was his last international race.
