Kurt Busch reflects on memories shared with his brother

Kurt released the message on social media Monday, expressing gratitude for the support shown to his family following Kyle’s unexpected death on May 21.

The brothers shared one of the most unique relationships in modern NASCAR history. They raced against each other in the Cup Series for more than 17 years, producing memorable moments, intense rivalries and several head-to-head battles.

Among their accomplishments were four races that ended with the Busch brothers finishing first and second, cementing their place among NASCAR’s most successful sibling pairings.

In his statement, Kurt reflected on the early years of their relationship and the experiences they shared before either reached the sport’s highest level.

“Thank you, everyone, for the well wishes, support and love for my brother and our family.”

“I reflect back on the days Kyle and I raced anything we could get our hands on. I will forever be grateful for the memories we made, the lessons you taught me, and the brotherhood we shared.”

NASCAR continues to honor Kyle Busch’s legacy

Kurt was among the family members present during pre-race ceremonies for the Coca-Cola 600, one of several tributes held in memory of the two-time Cup Series champion.

One of the most emotional moments came when Kurt walked to the black No. 8 painted into the infield grass and placed eight white roses beside it.

The tribute remained untouched throughout the event and became one of the defining images from the weekend.

The brothers’ connection extended beyond racing against one another. Kurt also delivered Kyle Busch Motorsports’ lone NASCAR O’Reilly Series victory during the 2012 season.

For many NASCAR fans, Kurt’s message provided a deeply personal glimpse into a relationship that helped shape two championship careers and left a lasting impact on the sport.

While tributes to Kyle continue across the garage, Kurt’s words offered a reminder that beyond the trophies and victories was a brotherhood that began long before either driver became a NASCAR champion.
