New Los Angeles Sparks draftee Sania Feagin didn’t hesitate when asked who her favorite WNBA player was growing up.
Her answer? None other than three-time MVP and fellow South Carolina alum A’ja Wilson.

The 6-foot-3 forward, who played four seasons under Coach Dawn Staley at South Carolina, was selected 21st overall in the second round of the 2025 WNBA Draft by the Sparks.
Feagin joins a growing list of Gamecocks in the WNBA and is expected to bring a strong presence on both ends of the court.
In a post shared by The State reporter Michael Sauls, Feagin openly named Wilson as her childhood favorite.
It’s a fitting tribute, as both players share not only the same college program but also a championship-winning legacy. Wilson, now a Las Vegas Aces star, has long been considered one of the top players in the league and a role model for young athletes.

“This feeling is like something you can’t even explain,” Feagin said after being drafted, per The State. “To know that I grew up and started from really nothing, and now I’m here—it’s amazing.”

Now headed to Los Angeles, Feagin is ready to build her professional career alongside fellow draftee Sarah Ashlee Barker and top-tier talents like Cameron Brink, Kelsey Plum and Dearica Hamby.
And as Feagin begins her WNBA journey, she carries a dream shaped by players like A’ja Wilson, whom she once looked up to—and may now face across the court.
