Dec. 3—The Washington Catholic Lady Cardinals dropped to 1-5 with a Blue Chip Conference loss to Northeast Dubois 61-11 in the Birdcage Tuesday.

WC was limited to just two total points in the first and third quarters, but played well in the even frames.

The Lady Jeeps used full-court pressure to open the game, forcing six turnovers and leading to a 12-0 lead in the first 3:00. Dubois extend the lead, all the way to 28-0 at the end of the quarter, that included 11 points from Kalb, eight of which came in transition off turnovers.

Gootee picked up the first WC point off a free throw early in the second quarter. Fry also earned an “and-1” for WC that cut the margin to 34-4. Vertus added the final WC basket of the quarter, as WC ended the eight minutes being out-scored just 7-6 by the Jeep reserves, and went into the half down 35-6.

The Jeeps ripped off the first eight points of the third quarter to make it 43-6 and start the IHSAA-mandated running clock.

After a 13-0 run, NED pushed it to 48-8 and eventually 55-8 at the end of the third, with McCracken getting the lone WC bucket, as Dubois went on a 20-2 run during the third.

Washington Catholic moved into double figures as Beccera added the teams first triple to make it 57-11.

Dubois picked up the final basket of the game to garner the conference win.

There was no JV game played. WC travels to Wood Memorial on Thursday and hosts Seven Oaks on Dec. 10 in the Birdcage.
