Lady Longhorns vs. LSU was 4th most-watched regular season WCBB game of all-time on ESPN

The Lady Longhorns are becoming quite popular. Last week, the Texas Longhorns women’s basketball team scored the highest TV rating of the season in its upset of South Carolina. Now, UT has set another high ratings mark. The Horns game against LSU on Sunday was the fourth highest rated women’s hoops game of all time on ESPN and its platforms.

The 65-58 win over the Tigers helped the Lady Longhorns move up to No. 2 in the latest Coaches and AP Polls. At 26-2, Texas is in first place in the SEC with just three more games left in the regular season.

In the latest ESPN Bracketology, Texas currently projects to be a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Women’s Tournament in the Birmingham Region. Other projected No. 1 seeds include Notre Dame, UCLA and South Carolina. In total, 10 SEC teams are projected to make the tourney.

Texas has almost an entire week off before the final stretch of the season against Georgia, Mississippi State and Florida.

If Texas remains in first place in the conference, Texas would be the No. 1 seed in the SEC tournament. The SEC tournament winner will automatically qualify for one of 68 spots with an inside shot at hosting a postseason game. If Texas is eliminated from the conference tournament, its seeding is at the mercy of the committee, which can select Texas as an at-large team.

The SEC tournament is from March 5 to March 9 in Greenville, S.C. The Selection Sunday show will be broadcast at 7 p.m. March 16 by ESPN.
