Mitchell Northam of USA TODAY released updated women’s basketball bracketology for the 2026 NCAA Tournament on Wednesday. Tennessee (16-12, 8-8 SEC) is projected as a No. 8 seed and would open tournament play in Storrs, Connecticut.
The Lady Vols are projected to face No. 9 seed Princeton in the first round. The winner would advance to play either No. 1 seed UConn or No. 16 seed Howard in the second round.

Virginia, Nebraska, Colorado and Richmond are projected as the last four teams in, while Mississippi State, South Dakota State, Stanford and Arizona State are projected as the first four schools out of the NCAA Tournament. Utah, James Madison, Texas A&M and BYU are the next four schools out.
The Lady Vols will next play in the SEC Tournament at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina.
Tennessee will open tournament play on Thursday against the winner between No. 11 seed Alabama (21-9, 7-9 SEC) and No. 14 seed Missouri (16-15, 4-12 SEC). Tipoff between the Crimson Tide and Tigers is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. EST on Wednesday.
The winner between the Lady Vols and Alabama or Missouri on Thursday will advance to the SEC Tournament quarterfinals versus No. 3 seed Texas (28-3, 13-3 SEC) on Friday (8:30 p.m. EST).
