The 2025 YMCA National Long Course Swimming Championships kicked off on Tuesday in Ocala, Florida.
The first day of the meet saw finals in the men’s and women’s 800 freestyle, 200 butterfly, 50 breaststroke, 100 freestyle and the 200 medley relay.
After one day, Greater Spartanburg leads the men’s meet with 184.5 points. Greater Somerset is second (149), followed by York (104), Upper Main Line (94) and Lakeland Hills (88).
In the women’s meet, Lakeland Hills and Upper Main Line are tied for the lead with 138 points. Jersey Shore is third with 113.5, followed by Spartanburg (101) and Powel Crosley (94.5).

YMCA Championships: Women’s 200 Butterfly
Serena Dickey of Lakeland Hills (N.J.) claimed victory in the 200 fly to open the first night of finals. The 16-year-old finished in 2:16.31.
Farmington Valley (Connecticut) 18-year-old Erin Richards took second in 2:17.20.
Third place went to Jersey Shore’s Maya Freeman in 2:17.92, followed by Triangle Area’s Aubrey Mitchell (2:18.64), Lakeland Hills’ Anna Kilponen (2:18.92), Upper Main Line’s (Pennsylvania) Ellie McNamara (2:19.60), York’s Molly Yacoviello (2:21.11) and Pocono’s Sydney Wolbert (2:21.25).
YMCA Championships: Men’s 200 Butterfly
Farmington Valley’s Jon Rusnock put together a dominating performance in the 200 butterfly, touching the wall in 2:02.61 to hold off the field by nearly four seconds.
Wilton (Connecticut) swimmer Evan VanVelzor took second in 2:06.11.
Rays’ Gray Reiger was third in 2:06.83, followed by York’s Roman Torres (2:07.27), Cheshire’s (Connecticut) Brayden Hale (2:07.47), Greater Somerset’s (N.J.) Lucas Abd (2:07.48), Greater Somerset’s Max Ruffer (2:07.51) and Lynchburg’s (Virginia) Hudson Rice (2:07.82) rounded out the top eight.
YMCA Championships: Women’s 50 Breaststroke
Spartanburg South Carolina’s Grace Hunt claimed the 50 breaststroke victory, getting to the wall in 32.89.
Lakeland Hills’ Alexia Davies was second in 33.53, followed by Powel Crosley’s Corine Rieskamp (33.55), Randolph’s (N.J.) Morgan Mindrebo (33.68), Rays’ Ava Haese (33.71), Western Connecticut’s Alexa Kwarcinski (33.79), Jersey Shore’s Emma Price (33.81) and Lakeland Hills’ Sofia Keller (34.08).
YMCA Championships: Men’s 50 Breaststroke
Triangle Area’s Evan Hepburn won the men’s 50 breast, getting to the wall in 28.96.
Upper Main Line’s Sebastian Tith was second in 29.14, followed by Spartanburg’s Owen Harmon (29.43), York’s Kaden Fatta (29.49), Spartanburg’s Maddex Ternes (29.59), Upper Main Line’s Finn Lukens (29.68), Lakeland Hills’ Stefan Yousuf (29.82) and Jersey Shore’s Andrew Petersen (29.85).
YMCA Championships: Women’s 100 Freestyle
Oshkosh Wisconsin’s Kiersten Dietschweiler was one of two swimmers to break 58 seconds in the women’s 100 free. She got to the wall in 57.71 to earn the victory.
Powel Crosley’s Cora Spetz finished second in 57.76, followed by Western Connecticut’s Mia Hatzis (58.04), Powel Crosley’s Isabelle Schroeder (58.26), Fanwood Scotch’s (N.J.) Jane Kavanagh (58.29), Wyckoff New Jersey’s Jessie Wolf (58.36), Greater Somerset’s Caylee Smith (58.40) and Jersey Shore’s Katherine Kennedy (58.43).
YMCA Championships: Men’s 100 Freestyle
Greater Somerset’s Kenneth Barnicle raced to victory in the 100 free, touching in 50.12, dropping more than a half second from prelims.
Rays’ Jonathan Hoole finished second in 50.57, followed by Spartanburg’s Jimmy Beeson (50.90), Ternes (51.39), Lakeland Hills’ Connor Johnson (51.90), Greater Somerset’s Domingo Gatti (52.10), Indian Valley Connecticut’s Ben Pope (52.24) and Spartanburg’s Wade Chandgie (52.48).
YMCA Championships: Women’s 200 Medley Relay
Lakeland Hills took the win in 1:57.06, dropping more than two seconds from prelims.
Cheshire earned second place in 1:57.49, followed by Jersey Shore (1:57.53), York (1:58.53), Spartanburg (2:00.25), Lowes (2:00.35), Powel Crosley (2:01.65) and Upper Main Line (2:01.88).
YMCA Championships: Men’s 200 Medley Relay
Spartanburg claimed the men’s victory in 1:43.53 to hold off Greater Somerset (1:44.05).
Triangle Area took third in 1:44.18, followed by Lakeland Hills (1:45.25), Indian Valley (1:45.90), Jersey Shore (1:46.80), York (1:47.00) and Powel Crosley (1:47.89).
