Lansing Community College basketball sophomore Kara Bartels and freshman Zander Woodruff earned NJCAA Division II All-America honors for their respective seasons.
Bartels, a 6-foot-3 sophomore center, was named a second-team All-American after anchoring the LCC women’s basketball team’s 26-6 season, including a 14-0 mark in conference play. Bartels averaged 15.1 points per game, shooting 50% from the floor, while also tallying 9.4 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game. She scored 1,036 points in her two years with the Stars, helping the program win 51 games over two seasons.
Bartels, who played her high school basketball at Zeeland West, is yet to decide where she’ll play next season, but does have Division II offers and Division I interest.

Woodfruff was named a third-team All-American after leading the nation in scoring at 30.5 points per game and helping the Stars’ men’s basketball team to an 18-13 season. Woodruff, a 6-3 freshman guard from Laingsburg, made 85 of 259 3-point tries (33%) and shot above 50% from the floor.

Woodruff also hasn’t decided where he’ll play next season. He has another year of eligibility at LCC if he wants it.
