Las Vegas race starting lineup set

Michael McDowell is on the pole for Sunday’s Pennzoil 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

McDowell’s lap of 28.883 seconds was a hundredth of a second better than Joey Logano.

Ryan Blaney crashed in practice with a cut tire, suffering damage to the rear of his car via a spin in turn 2. But the No. 12 Penske team planned to fix the damage to avoid going to a backup car, according to the Amazon Prime broadcast of practice, and will start last on Sunday.
