The latest player profile from the Duke Chronicle is of Wisconsin transfer John Blackwell.
He was a solid and clutch player for Wisconsin, averaging 19.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.3 assists. He also picked up 1.1 steals, shot 43% overall, and 38.9% from deep. And he’ll do well if he gets fouled late, having hit 85.9% from the line last year, and never less than 81.5%.

From the Chronicle: “The Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, native brings an ability to score in all three levels to Duke’s offense, something they sorely missed in their backcourt this past season following the departure of Kon Knueppel. Blackwell’s bread and butter is shooting from beyond the arc, knocking down triples at a 38.9% rate last season. He’s able to create his own shot, as well as hit catch-and-shoot attempts from the corner.
“…Blackwell brings another ability Duke has sorely lacked in the past few years. He is able to make tough shots late in the game, something a program that has choked away its season in the late rounds of March Madness the past two years needs.”
