Latest postseason projections for Nebraska basketball

by

March Madness is almost upon us, and so are bracket projections. ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has Nebraska men’s basketball as a No. 3 seed in the South region. The Huskers are slated to face the Navy Midshipmen in the first round of the NCAA tournament. UConn, Houston, and Texas Tech are ranked as the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4 seeds in that region.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have a complicated history with the NCAA tournament. They have made eight appearances in school history and hold a 0-8 record. The Huskers are the only power-conference school to have never won a tournament game.

The Huskers have had postseason success. They have appeared in 19 National Invitation Tournaments and hold a 24-18 record, including the 1996 NIT Championship.

This is uncharted territory for a Nebraska basketball program that has had a tremendous season. The Huskers sit at 23-4 with only a few games remaining in the season. That particular region would be challenging, but nothing comes easy in March.
