“Marine has been part of this organization since 2019, and that continuity means a lot to us. She brings a unique blend of creativity and shot making to the floor, and her feel for the game energizes both the team and the fanbase. The coaching staff is eager to help unlock her full potential in the WNBA this season,” Liberty’s general manager Jonathan Kolb said in a statement.
During the 2025 season, the guard appeared in 44 games for New York. She averaged 6.4 points per game. Johannes also shot close to 40 percent from the field.
“She’s a floor spacer who can fit in with different lineups. She’s become a fan favorite since she made her WNBA debut in 2019 and is nicknamed “the Wizard” for her blink-and-you-miss-it playmaking and timely 3s,” the New York Post recently reported.
The French guard has averaged 7.4 points per game in her WNBA career. She has appeared in 122 games in the league. She appeared for the Liberty in the 2025 WNBA postseason.

Her best WNBA season came with the Liberty in 2022. That season, she set career-highs in several stat categories. She averaged 10 points per game, while also making 10 starts.
During the Liberty’s 2024 WNBA championship run, Johannes didn’t play for New York. New York tips off their 2026 season on May 8. The Liberty take on the Connecticut Sun in their opener.
