
Former University of Iowa women’s basketball coach Lisa Bluder is showing some serious love for one of her former students.
On X, Bluder congratulated Sam Logic, who played for Iowa from 2011 to 2015, on her new role as an assistant coach for Marquette University’s women’s basketball team.

Bluder shared a quote tweet from current Iowa assistant coach Abby Stamp, who wrote, “LOVE THIS! Congrats to Sam and Marquette. So happy for you!” Bluder then added her own message of support, writing, “You will do a great job, Sam!”
The exchange had Hawkeye fans celebrating the continued success of their former standout.
Bluder’s coaching career is one of the most distinguished in women’s college basketball. She notably led Iowa to two NCAA national championship games in 2023 and 2024 as well as coached Caitlin Clark during her collegiate basketball career. Bluder retired in May 2024, capping off a remarkable 40-year career in coaching.

Marquette’s newest hire, Logic, had a strong playing career before transitioning into coaching. She averaged 11.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 1.9 steals in four seasons at Iowa.

Logic was selected 10th overall in the 2015 WNBA Draft by the Atlanta Dream before being traded to the San Antonio Stars after playing just four games with the Dream. In one WNBA season, she averaged 1.8 points in 27 games with the Dream and Stars. After that, Logic played professionally overseas for 10 years in seven different countries.
Iowa fans took to X to celebrate Marquette’s hiring of Logic, praising the decision and sharing their excitement about her return to the Midwest. The outpouring of support shows the lasting connection between Logic and the Iowa community, as fans continue to cheer her on in this new chapter of her basketball journey.
“Iowa fan here. Sam was my favorite player in the day and she jump-started the current Iowa basketball string of excellence,” says one X user. “Hope she does the same for you.”
