Riley announced his decision on social media, thanking the Cougars coaching staff for their support and emphasizing that it was the best decision for his career at the moment.

“After much thought and consideration, I have decided to de-commit from the University of Houston,” Riley wrote on X. “I’m incredibly grateful to the coaching staff and the entire Houston family for the opportunity and support. This was not an easy decision, but I believe it’s the best step for my future.
This past weekend, Riley was in Austin for an unofficial visit with Texas. According to 247Sports, the Longhorns are now viewed as the favorites to land the three-star prospect. They rank Riley as the No. 63 safety in the class and the No.111 player from the Lonestar state.
The Longhorns 2026 class is currently ranked as the 36th-best class in the country, with just four commits. Adding Riley would improve the defense and help the Longhorns rise in the rankings. They have excelled in the last few years in developing players in the secondary.

While the Anderson High School product has not set a deadline for a decision, a resolution could come in June. He is one recruit to watch as the Longhorns look to improve their safety group in the 2026 class.
