One college football team is reportedly slated to play one of the wildest regular seasons we’ve ever seen.
As the tectonic plates of the sport continue to shift and legalities continue to get sorted out, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs are currently double-booked for ’26.

LA Tech announced it would be leaving Conference USA in favor of the Sun Belt last summer “no later than July 1, 2027.” But both C-USA and the Sun Belt included the program in their 2026 schedule releases — giving the Bulldogs 20 scheduled games.

LA tech saddled with bizarre 20-game schedule in 2026
According to ESPN.com: “School officials told Conference USA that [LA Tech] planned to depart July 1, 2026, but the sides could not agree to a departure date or settlement fee.”

“So earlier this month, the University of Louisiana System, on behalf of Louisiana Tech, sued Conference USA to be able to exit the conference July 1. In a statement released after filing the lawsuit, the school said the proposed 2026 football schedule drafted by Conference USA left them no choice but to sue.”
The situation is obviously messy and it’s hard to imagine the Bulldogs’ current slate actually staying a reality by the time season actually kicks off — especially with LA Tech having two games on the same day Nov. 7.

“Wow, if I’m an NFL GM, I’m lookin to this team for STUDS .. if you can survive a 20 game schedule, you’ve got the ‘it,’” another said.
“WAIT THIS WAS REAL,” a fan asked.
“17-3 coming down the pike. Losses to LSU, Baylor and the Troy Trojans.⚔️” a fan predicted.
“Imagine playing a doubleheader 😭😭” another person cried.
“This exactly why we gotta blow it all up and start the conferences over man this is stupid as hell.”
