What did Louisville basketball learn from last week’s exhibition loss to No. 19 Kansas?

We’ll find out tonight, when Pat Kelsey‘s No. 10 Cardinals host Bucknell at the KFC Yum! Center in their final exhibition before the 2025-26 season officially tips off.

Despite trailing the Jayhawks for more than 36 minutes and by as many as 18 points, Kelsey and the members of his new-look roster who made available to the media kept positive attitudes postgame. They knew the 40 minutes of film they had to review was going to be more valuable than any possession of U of L’s dominant exhibition peformances against Young Harris College and Spalding last fall.

“I told the guys the one thing they don’t have to worry about is our team being really, really good as long as we get better because of the things that we’ll learn from the tape,” the coach said.

“They’re longer film sessions when you lose,” sixth-year returner J’Vonne Hadley added. “They’re not the best, but it’s a reality check (for) everybody.”

Led by third-year coach John Griffin III, Bucknell is coming off a an 18-15 finish to 2024-25, during which it captured a share of the Patriot League’s regular-season title with a conference record of 13-5. The Bison feature five newcomers (three freshmen, two NCAA transfer portal additions) and return only two starters from the previous campaign.
