One of LSU football’s top commits in the 2026 recruiting class slipped in the rankings. Rivals released a new Rivals300 after completing the merger with On3. After the update, defensive tackle Richard Anderson is no longer a four-star. On3 was high on Anderson, but with On3 handing off recruiting coverage to Rivals, the On3 rankings are no more.
Anderson remains a top-100 consensus recruit. On3’s praise of Anderson is still reflected in his Rivals rankings, where he sits No. 23 overall and No. 2 at his position, but its not enough for the fifth-star. ESPN is the lowest on Anderson, ranking the Louisiana native No. 93 nationally.

Anderson attends Edna Karr High School, a New Orleans powerhouse. He’s been committed to the Tigers since June of 2024 and maintained his pledge even with LSU seeing a change at defensive line coach. Bo Davis took a job with the New Orleans Saints and LSU head coach Brian Kelly tabbed former LSU star Kyle Williams to fill the role.
Given Anderson’s top-30 ranking on Rivals, he still has a decent chance to finish as a five-star recruit with a strong senior season.
Anderson was recently joined in LSU’s class by five-star defensive tackle Lamar Brown, giving the top defensive tackle haul in the country.
Per the Rivals Industry Rankings, LSU football’s 2026 signing class ranks No. 7 nationally.
