LSU women’s basketball at Georgia score, live updates

Uncharted territory.

What LSU women’s basketball is going through right now is something it hasn’t navigated under Kim Mulkey since she took over the program five years ago. The Tigers (14-2, 0-2 SEC) have lost their first two games in Southeastern Conference play.

It is too early for the team to feel like its back is against the wall but this tough stretch to open conference play includes games against No. 2 Texas and at No. 5 Oklahoma over the next 10 days. Meaning No. 12 LSU could really use a win at Georgia (15-1, 1-1) on Thursday night (5:30 p.m. CT, SEC Network+).

In its first two SEC games, the Tigers led in the final minutes only to see wins slip away in crunch time.

Another thing to watch around this game is the availability star senior Flau’jae Johnson. Mulkey said on her weekly radio show this week that the guard is dealing with some ankle swelling after the Vanderbilt loss and that her status is something to monitor.

Georgia is improved from the past couple of down seasons. And that is thanks in large part to the play of guard Dani Carnegie, who’s averaging nearly 18 points per game, which is top 10 in the SEC.

But it’s not just Carnegie as the Bulldogs have a steady inside-out game with forward Mia Woolfolk inside and she’s a solid offensive rebounder.
