LSU women’s basketball star Aneesah Morrow named Player of the Year semifinalist

LSU women’s basketball’s Aneesah Morrow was named a semifinalist for the Naismith Player of the Year trophy, announced Thursday.

Earlier this week, Morrow landed on the Naismith’s semifinalist list for Defensive Player of the Year. The All-SEC First Teamer is also up for the Wooden Award and Katrina McClain Award.

The senior forward has been one of the country’s most dominant players this season. She leads the nation with 27 double-doubles and 13.6 rebounds per game. Morrow also averages 18.5 points per game.

In her second season at LSU, Morrow has 15 games with 20+ points and 13 games with 15+ rebounds. In eight games, she recorded at least 20 points and 15 rebounds, notching four 20/20 games. In the Tigers’ first SEC Tournament game against Florida, Morrow set a program record for points in a tournament game with 36.

In her foruth collegiate season, Morrow already left her name in the record books. She is one of two players in NCAA history with over 100 career double-doubles. Her 1,665 rank fourth all-time and she is one eight players with over 2,500 points and 1,500 rebounds in a career.
