LSU women’s basketball faces South Carolina Saturday in Baton Rouge. The clash of two SEC titans means a bit more for one of the Tigers’ newcomers.

MiLaysia Fulwiley transferred to LSU in the offseason following her second season with the Gamecocks. A Columbia, SC native, she represented her hometown for her first two years of college basketball. She will play against her former teammates and head coach Dawn Staley for the first time on Saturday.

Fulwiley averaged 11.7 points per game in each of her first two seasons. Despite playing in every game as a freshman and sophomore, she started just three times and sometimes found herself on the bench during critical moments.

As a freshman, Fulwiley was named the SEC Tournament MVP after scoring a career-high 24 points in the 2024 championship against LSU. The Gamecocks won the national title that same season.

Fulwiley took a step forward under the leadership of head coach Kim Mulkey. While she cracked the starting five just once, she is averaging 13.4 points per game, second-most on the team. She also already has 80 steals, showcasing her improvement on defense.
