Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic spoke publicly Wednesday for the first time since suffering a Grade 2 hamstring strain on April 2, saying he still does not know when he will return to the court.

Doncic revealed that he traveled to Spain during his recovery process to undergo platelet-rich plasma therapy after consulting with Lakers medical staff.

According to the player, he received four PRP injections over the course of several days before returning to the team.

“I went to Spain to do PRP,” Doncic said. “Everybody knows that Spain, they’re just one of the best countries to do that. And obviously, I talked with the Lakers’ doctors, so everybody agreed for me to go there.”

The original recovery timeline projected approximately eight weeks out of action. As the Lakers prepare for Game 2 against the Oklahoma City Thunder, five weeks have passed since the injury occurred.

Doncic said he has resumed running but has not yet advanced to contact work. He also avoided giving a clear answer about potentially returning for Games 3 or 4 in Los Angeles.

“It’s a tough one for me because I came back from injuries before too soon, and it wasn’t the best result,” Doncic said.

“You have to be very careful. All the recovery, the chamber, cold tub, everything I can to come back, but it’s obviously very different than other injuries I had.”

The superstar guard emphasized that he does not want to rush the recovery process after previous experiences returning too early from injuries.
