
US Nationals Day 4 Men’s Prelims: Luka Mijatovic Shatters NAG Record for Top Seed in 400 Free
The 2025 U.S. National Championships continued from Indianapolis with the Day 4 prelims session.
The session includes the 400 freestyle, 100 breaststroke and 100 backstroke.
Here is a recap of what happened during the men’s events:
US Nationals: Men’s 400 Free
Luka Mijatovic won his heat in 3:45.89, breaking his own NAG record for 15-16 (it was also under the 17-18 NAG). His previous mark was 3:48.95. His new record was enough to take the top seed into tonight’s final.
Rex Maurer took the second seed in 3:47.22, followed by Ryan Erisman (3:48.19). Luke Hobson (3:48.29), David Johnston (3:48.45), Alec Enyeart (3:48.46) and Kieran Smith (3:48.96).
Carson Foster and Luke Ellis scratched the event.
US Nationals: Men’s 100 Breaststroke
Josh Matheny bested the field in the prelims with a 59.80, the only swimmer to break a minute in the field.
Campbell McKean, who won the 50 breast, went a 1:00.18 to win his heat in the 100.
Michael Andrew won his heat in 1:00.27 ahead of Gabe Nunziata (1:00.98).
Matheny led McKean, Andrew, Nate Germonprez (1:00.33).
Jassen Yep, the NCAA champion, took the fifth seed in 1:00.43, followed by Luke Barr (1:00.63), AJ Pouch (1:00.74) and Nunziata.
