Three-time NBA Slam Dunk Contest champion Mac McClung is reportedly close to continuing his career in Europe, with Spanish club FIATC Girona in advanced negotiations to sign the high-flying guard, according to Chema de Lucas.

The 27-year-old enters free agency after splitting the 2025-26 season between the Chicago Bulls and the Windy City Bulls in the G League.

After years of dominating the developmental league, McClung appears ready for a new challenge overseas.

Last season was one of the best of his career.

In March, he followed a 54-point outing by setting a career high with 59 points in a game, becoming the NBA G League’s all-time leading scorer. He also earned his second G League MVP award.

McClung chose not to defend his Slam Dunk Contest title in 2026, saying he wanted to give other players an opportunity, before the Bulls renounced his free-agent rights later in the offseason.

Although multiple European clubs have shown interest, Girona has emerged as the frontrunner.

A move to Spain’s Liga Endesa and the FIBA Europe Cup would give McClung the opportunity to compete at a high level while potentially boosting his chances of returning to the NBA in the future.
