Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) cantered to a six-wicket win over Mumbai Indians (MI) on Wednesday night in IPL 2026, and their batters had a field day. Little surprise that there were big changes on the Orange Cap table at the end of it, not to mention a brand-new topper on the Purple Cap table.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) dasher, had the Orange Cap before this game after becoming the first to touch the 400-run mark this season, but two SRH batters went zooming past him by the end of Wednesday night.
Abhishek Sharma, who hit a 24-ball 45, and Heinrich Klaasen, with 65 not out in 30 balls, are the one and two on the table now: Abhishek has 425 runs and Klaasen 414.
Sooryavanshi is at No. 3 with 400 runs, followed by KL Rahul of Delhi Capitals (DC) and Virat Kohli of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), the only others to have crossed 350 for the season, and seven other batters who are past 300.
Eshan Malinga has been one of the stories of the season, and he continued the good work with 1 for 29 (economy rate of 7.25 in an MI innings that went at 12.15), Suryakumar Yadav his victim.
Malinga is now clear of the pack with 15 wickets, followed by RCB’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar, RR’s Jofra Archer and Anshul Kamboj of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who have 14 each. Behind them, with 13 wickets to their names, are Prince Yadav of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Kagiso Rabada of Gujarat Titans (GT).
