Canadian snapped three-fight skid with bonus-winning KO
Marc-Andre Barriault wants new contract after scary KO victory
UFC 315 winner Marc-Andre Barriault spoke to MMA Junkie and reporters post-fight after his first-round knockout of Bruno Silva in Montreal.
MONTREAL – Marc-Andre Barriault met the media Saturday after his win over Bruno Silva at UFC 315.
Barriault (17-9 MMA, 6-8 UFC) electrified his home crowd in Canada when he took out Silva (23-13 MMA, 4-7 UFC) with a brutal series of elbows against the fence for a first-round knockout. The bonus-winning finish sent Silva out of the cage on a stretcher and to the hospital.
After the scary-for-Silva finish, Barriault is hoping he winds up with a new contract from the UFC.
“I think I proved that I still belong here and I want to stay here,” Barriault told MMA Junkie at his post-fight news conference. “… I want to stay here. I love the UFC. I don’t want to go anywhere else. It was my 15th fight in the UFC and the last fight on my contract.
“I want a new contract, and I think I proved I deserve a new contract. You guys are going to see me again soon.”
Barriault became the first fighter to knock Silva out in a sanctioned pro fight. He snapped a three-fight skid, all of which came in 2024. The loss was Silva’s fifth straight and seventh in eight fights aftera 3-0 start in the UFC in 2021 with two bonuses.
