Mason Greenwood’s early strike saw Marseille overcome their Coupe de France disappointment with a 1-0 win at Toulouse.
Habib Beye’s side had lost a tense penalty shootout at the Velodrome on Wednesday night as Toulouse went through to the semifinals.
Marseille, though, got a measure of revenge after holding out following Greenwood’s fine goal in the 18th minute to move back above Lyon into third place in Ligue 1.
Greenwood gave the visitors the perfect start after Igor Paixão had latched on to a ball down the left channel following a swift counter-attack.
Paixao cut a pass back towards the edge of the area for Greenwood to fire the ball into the top corner.
Marseille maintained their momentum, with Paixao seeing his shot saved by Toulouse goalkeeper Guillaume Restes.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang then latched on to a loose backpass from Cristian Casseres Jr and took the ball around Restes, but he could not find the net from a tight angle.

Toulouse improved after the restart, with Santiago Hidalgo firing a shot just over.
The home side almost equalised in the 53rd minute when Yann Gboho’s saw his right-footed shot crash against the crossbar.
Paixao sent a long-range free-kick over before Marseille keeper Gerónimo Rulli saved a speculative effort from Toulouse midfielder Pape Diop to make sure of the three points, which put Beye’s men back into the automatic Champions League places.
