Max Holloway reacts to UFC 326 BMF title loss: ‘I ain’t done yet’

Max Holloway is not down on himself after losing the BMF title to Charles Oliveira in the UFC 326 main event.

Holloway (27-9 MMA, 23-9 UFC) had no consistent answers for Oliveira’s (37-11 MMA, 25-11 UFC) grappling on Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and it led to a one-sided unanimous decision defeat. Although “Blessed” was able to avoid being tapped out and got out of many bad position, he couldn’t muster enough of his own offense and it led to the end of his BMF reign.

“(My game plan was) just stick and move, you know?” Holloway told Joe Rogan in the octagon post-fight. “But they came with a better game plan. You’ve got to give it up for Oliveira. Hell of a fighter. True BMF. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

At 34 and now with the most fight time in company history at nearly nine hours, Holloway has experienced nearly every high and low that a fighter can go through in an MMA career.

Still, though, the Hawaiian clearly has a fire for greatness, and he said this defeat won’t be the end of his story. In fact, the goals haven’t much changed – this was just a setback for Holloway.

“I’m going to come back, whoop somebody’s ass and be right in title contention again,” Holloway said. “I ain’t done yet. I’m going to see Mr. Oliveira again, bro. That’s for sure.”
