The Phoenix Mercury came out on top on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Sparks. Led by Satou Sabally, the team had a three-point win with the final score of 89-86. Sabally was phenomenal for the Mercury in her second game.
The All-Star forward had 25 points, five rebounds, and three assists. She was also locked in defensively with her three steals and one block. However, she didn’t shoot well from the field, only 37.5%. Still, she made the most of her trips from the free throw line.

On X, the team’s social media account threw shade at the Sparks. The team spoiled Los Angeles’ attempt to have a dramatic ending.
“On planet mercury, there’s no Hollywood endings,” the Mercury posted.
This was about Thomas scoring eight of her 19 points in the fourth quarter. When the team needed a boost, the five-time All-Star stepped up.
Mercury head coach Nate Tibbetts spoke highly of the veteran star after the game. The coach praised Thomas for her leadership and effort that gave them the victory. Tibbetts revealed that the five-time WNBA All-Star sent a message to her teammates at halftime that fired them up.

Her speech helped the Sparks for a seven-point quarter.
“AT cares about one thing and that’s winning,” Tibbetts said. “She wants to do it with toughness and grit, and that’s something we all want, and she’s gonna hold us to a certain standard.”
Phoenix can add another win to their record on Friday. Thomas, Sabally, and the rest of the team will face the Seattle Storm.
