Clay Holmes, who’s started only four games over his seven seasons in the big leagues, will take the mound and is expected to pitch three innings and/or throw around 40-45 pitches. Holmes has owned a 2.69 ERA over the past four years as part of the Yankees bullpen.

Juan Soto will make his highly anticipated Mets spring training debut after signing a record-breaking 15-year, $765 million deal.

Manager Carlos Mendoza has said his plan is for Soto to bat second behind Francisco Lindor. Lindor slashed .303/.374/.552 with a .926 OPS, 26 home runs and 71 RBI across 109 games in the leadoff spot in 2024, while Soto slashed .287/.419/.567 with 41 HRs and 108 RBI in 156 games hitting in the two-hole with the Yankees last season.

Brett Baty, who’s battling for a bench spot, gets the start at third base. Mendoza noted Baty has been working out at third and second base, in addition to taking some reps at shortstop this spring.

How can I stream the game?
The new way to stream SNY games is via the MLB App or MLB.tv. Streaming on the SNY App and SNY.tv will be discontinued by Opening Day.
