Miami at Georgia Tech predictions: Will No. 4 UM avoid upset and remain undefeated?

No. 4 Miami (9-0) at Georgia Tech (5-4), Saturday, Noon, ESPN

Latest line: Miami is favored by 11 points

The Hurricanes’ offense has been prolific all season and shows no signs of slowing down. However, the defense has been struggling lately. If Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King returns from injury, the Yellow Jackets can create some big plays, which have plagued UM for weeks. But Miami’s offense should be able to outscore another overmatched ACC opponent.

This is just the kind of mediocre ACC opponent that the Hurricanes have survived more than dominated. Maybe the second half against Duke where they flexed their muscle changed that idea. Regardless, Miami should be 10-0 after this one and on its way to an undefeated regular season. UM is favored by 11 points on the road for good reason.

Keven Lerner, Assistant Sports Editor: Miami 30, Georgia Tech 23

The Hurricanes are one of four undefeated Power 4 teams largely because of their prolific offense. No. 4 Miami (9-0, 5-0 ACC) has the nation’s top offense, averaging 47.4 points per game. Cam Ward is having a Heisman Trophy-caliber season and is second in the nation with 3,146 passing yards and leads the nation with 29 touchdown passes. His dominance should continue against an average Georgia Tech team. UM’s final two games are vs. Wake Forest and at Syracuse. An undefeated season is well within reach.
