A 58-year-old man who was also a passenger in the Kia Soul was hospitalized with serious injuries.

Police told the Herald there were no signs of impairment with either driver, and no criminal charges were pending as of Sunday.

The school declined to comment on the nature or extent of Hayes’ injuries when reached by the Miami Herald.

Hayes played in 12 games for the Hurricanes as a true freshman in 2024, making four tackles and recording one interception. He was a four-star prospect out of Largo High School and was ranked as Rivals’ No. 3 linebacker in the 2024 national recruiting class.
