When Dusty May took over the Michigan basketball program, he inherited a commitment in Durral ‘Phat Phat’ Brooks, and brought in two in Justin Pippen and LJ Cason. But now, that 2024 recruiting class has been decimated.
Pippen and Brooks both opted to move on while Cason looks poised to play a major role in the upcoming season after a solid showing in the postseason this past year. Pippen ended up transferring to Cal, but little was known about where Brooks would end up.

It turns out that Mr. Basketball in the state of Michigan will remain in-state, as it was revealed on Friday evening that he has committed to Central Michigan.
The Grand Rapids native appeared in 15 games last season but didn’t see much overall action throughout the course of the year. A 6-foot-2, 190-pound guard, he was a part of the 2024 Detroit News dream team.
With Brooks gone, the Wolverines will rely not only on Cason, but also transfer guard Elliot Cadeau and true freshman Trey McKenney, a former five-star from Flint (Mich.) St. Mary’s.
