Michigan flips 5-star quarterback Bryce Underwood from LSU

by

The 2024 season on the field may have been a far cry from the success that was the 2023 national championship year in 2023, but Michigan landed its centerpiece for the future.

Quarterback Bryce Underwood, a Michigan native and the nation’s No. 1 player in the 2025 cycle, announced his decision to flip his commitment from LSU to Michigan. Underwood had been committed to the Tigers since January 6, 2024.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the news on X.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pound signal-caller is ranked as the No. 1 overall player in the 2025 class by three of the four major recruiting outlets.

Underwood’s decision comes a few weeks after rumors began to swirl that Michigan was putting together an NIL package worth up to $10.5 million for Underwood.

Shortly after that news surfaced, Underwood posted an Instagram story that noted he would not be taking the deal and was staying committed to LSU. He was last in Baton Rouge on November 9 and watched the Tigers get crushed by Alabama 42-13.

Underwood’s senior season came to an end last Friday. He led Belleville to back-to-back state titles in 2021 and 2022, becoming the state’s all-time passing touchdown and total touchdown leader along the way.
