Michigan football hires David Denham as assistant defensive line coach

With the new reality in college football that analysts can coach players directly and aren’t simply support behind the scenes, programs are growing and growing. Such is the case for Michigan football.

The Wolverines brought in former Michigan analyst and longtime NFL offensive line coach Juan Castillo to help Grant Newsome with that position this offseason, and also had longtime wide receivers coach Erik Campbell return to the program to work with that position alongside Ron Bellamy.

But it’s not just at positions of need that Michigan is making moves.

According to 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz, the Wolverines are bringing in former Charlotte and Western Michigan defensive line coach David Denham to help with that position group.

Denham has worked under two Michigan assistant coaches — most recently at Charlotte where he coached under associate head coach Biff Poggi. He also worked with defensive line coach Lou Esposito (who was the defensive coordinator) while at Western Michigan.
