Michigan football lands No. 22 ranking as coaches close 2025 season

by

Michigan football opened up the 2025 season as a middle-of-the-road-ranked team. And the Wolverines closed out the season at the same level.

The maize and blue had, essentially, no signature wins this past season. Yes, they beat rival Michigan State and also beat a good Wisconsin team. But the three best teams on the schedule — Ohio State, Oklahoma, and USC — ended up being losses for the Wolverines this past season.

Now fans are looking forward instead of back, with a new head coach in Kyle Whittingham, and a new-look team set to take the field this upcoming season. But the coaches across college football took one final look back with the national championship having been won by Indiana on Monday. With that in mind, in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll, Michigan came in ranked No. 22, while OSU was No. 6, Oklahoma at No. 10, Texas at No. 13, and USC at No. 21. Whittingham’s old team, Utah, finished ranked No. 14.
