Be very, very careful about reading too far into offseason videos of non-shooters suddenly looking like they can shoot.

But Michigan State‘s high-flying Coen Carr now looks like he has a real jump shot.
If it’s legitimate, and if he can carry it over into games, that will totally change his upside this season for the Spartans.
Carr has been well known as an absurd leaper, but he hasn’t been a shot maker at all.
Now? Well, watch this:
Carr has shot 56.5% in his college career, which is mainly boosted by the fact that if he’s near the rim, he’s going to finish.
His lack of shooting touch shows up in his other two main percentages.
From 3-point range in his college career, Carr has shot 28.6%.
From the foul line? He’s been 64.1%.

Both of his numbers were slightly lower in 2025-26, at 27.6% from 3 and 62.9% from the foul line.
Carr averaged 12.0 points and 5.4 rebounds per game in 2025-26 while being a non-shooter.
Tom Izzo’s bunch would love to see Carr start knocking down outside shots.
