Michigan Wolverines star edge defender Derrick Moore dominating Senior Bowl with highlight plays and wild strength

The Michigan Wolverines surprisingly don’t have a ton of highly rated 2026 NFL Draft prospects this year, but Derrick Moore, their star edge rusher, is an exception.

He was already considered a mid-round draft pick by many prior to the kick off of NFL Draft season, but he has been dominating at the Senior Bowl, and will almost assuredly rise quickly in the coming weeks among scouts and media around the country.

Derrick Moore destroying offensive tackles at Senior Bowl

Michigan fans are already familiar with how special and dominant Derrick Moore can be as both a pass rusher and run stopper, but the entire football world should know after Tuesday’s Senior Bowl practices.

I — along with the rest of Senior Bowl media on-site — witnessed firsthand and up close just how destructive Moore could be all day long as he won pass rush rep after pass rush rep. The crescendo of his pass rush display came when he flattened 6-9, 347-pound Markel Bell of Miami on a 1-on-1 rep (as you can see in the post below).

Moore racked up an impressive 11 sacks this past season for Michigan, so it’s no wonder that he found some success in the Senior Bowl setting, but he absolutely blew away any expectations that media and team scouts had for him. If he keeps it up on Day 2 and 3 of Senior Bowl action, Moore will have the entire scouting community buzzing.

It wasn’t just his pass rush that impressed either. He was more than holding his own against the run throughout his first Senior Bowl practice as well. He was giving the offensive line fits all day, and when tight ends tried to block him it was immediately over. His best rep in run defense came when Dan Villari (TE, Syracuse) tried to block him. Moore ended up shoving Villari five yards, directly into the running back he was trying to block for, showcasing ridiculous strength.

Moore has always possessed every-down ability. He’s logged nearly 1,600 snaps for the Michigan Wolverines over the last four years as one of the most important players on the team. It’s no wonder why he’s finding success at the highest levels, but he needs to keep it up.

Moore missed just three tackles last year, but that had been a bit of a problem the previous two seasons. He also only logged a total of eight sacks in the prior two seasons combined, but Moore took his game to a whole new level in 2025. If he dominates all week at the Senior Bowl, then tests as well at the NFL Combine as many believe he can, Moore could find himself firmly inside the third round discussion by the time that the NFL Draft rolls around.
